Vaccine against rabies, inactivated.

Composition – 1 ml:

Active ingredient  –  Virus rabiei inactivatum, strain SAD Vnukovo-32 min. 2 IU

Excipients –  Nutrimentum MEM- Algedratum- Thiomersalum   Cell culture used for vaccine production:

BHK-21 derived from hamster kidney

Pharmacological properties:

After application into the body of the vaccinated individual, the antigen present in the vaccine is recognized as an extraneous substances and a number of defensive mechanisms is activated in the organism (macrophages, opsonins, interleucines, B lymphocytes etc.), in consequence of which creation of specific antibodies against the antigen determinants, contained in the vaccine, occurs. The said mechanisms are supposed to prevent from consequent development of infection.The animals are vaccinated from 3 months of age. The protective immunity starts 14 days after immunization. The animals that were vaccinated before they reached 3 months of age must be re-vaccinated after they accomplish this age (the minimum interval of 14 days between two vaccinations must be respected). The animals first vaccinated at the age of 3 to 12 months must be re-vaccinated one year after the first application of the vaccine. The re-vaccination performed one year after the first vaccination shall protect the animals from rabies for a minimum period of 2 years. To retain immunity, next re-vaccination is recommended pursuant to the veterinary regulations of the individual countries.

Method of administration and dosage:

The dose is 1 ml, regardless of age, weight and race of the individual. To be applied from the 12th week of age.
Method of administration:

  • subcutaneously, preferably behind the shoulder blade.
  • intramuscularly, preferably to the muscles of the pelvic limb.

Interaction:

The vaccine Biocan R may be used separately, simultaneously or in combination with other vaccines Biocan:

  • A) The vaccine Biocan R may be used as a diluting agent for the other lyophilised vaccines Biocan (for example DHPPi, DP, P).
  • B) The vaccine Biocan R may be applied simultaneously also with the liquid vaccines Biocan C, Biocan B, Biocan M and Biocan L.

Other possible vaccinations:

Biocan M Plus – a vaccine against Microsporum canis in dogs, Biocan B – a vaccine against Lyme disease in dogs, Biocan T – vaccine against tetanus in dogs.

Special precautions:

Shake the content of the vial before use.
Only clinically healthy and duly nourished animals are to be vaccinated. Eventual anti-parasite treatment should precede the vaccination by a minimum of 10 days. It is not recommended to train the immunized animals or to make them perform other breathings within one week after vaccination.Usable for 7 days after the first opening.
