ZearalaTest™ WB (Zearalenone Testing Solutions)

Zearalenone is an estrogenic mycotoxin produced by the fungus Fusarium graminearum. Zearalenone induces feminization in animals at concentrations in feed of about 1 mg/kg. Higher concentrations (50–100 mg/kg) can interfere with conception, ovulation, implantation, fetal development, and the viability of newborn animals. Increasingly concerned with human ingestion of this mycotoxin, the European Union is considering a full slate of proposed regulations for zearalenone in foods ranging from bread to breakfast cereals.

Using monoclonal antibody-based affinity chromatography, ZearalaTest™ WB is a new HPLC-only test for the detection of zearalenone using wide bore immunoaffinity columns. With a total volume of 3 mL, compared to the total of 1 mL in VICAM’s standard columns, ZearalaTest WB allows for a faster flow rate preferred by many laboratories and is the ideal cleanup step for any HPLC.

ZearalaTest WB is one of many wide bore columns available from VICAM. Through the development of this fast-flow WB product line,VICAM demonstrates a commitment to improving mycotoxin testing and responding to our customers’needs.
