Heatsop
Birds react to heat stress by panting.
Panting dissipates heat by evaporative cooling. Panting however also
leads to blood alkalosis (= higher plasma pH). Alkalosis results in
reduced feed consumption and lower growth rates.
HEATSTOP,
through a combination of electrolytes, salts and vitamin C, is the
nutrient solution to help poultry cope with periods of heat stress.
Purpose
- HEATSTOP
helps to maintain an
optimal blood pH level in the stressed bird (prevention of blood
alkalosis).
- HEATSTOP
increases heat resistance
and limits the rise in body temperatures during heat stress.
- HEATSTOP
reduces shrinkage between
load-out and slaughter.
- Using
HEATSTOP
during heat stress results
in improved feed intake and better technical performance of the flock.
- The economic benefit of
supplementation of HEATSTOP
exceeds by far the cost of
treatment
Use
- Try to supply
HEATSTOP
already prior to a period of extreme heat.
- In feed:
0.3% for broilers 21-28 days
0.5% for broilers over 28 days
old.
0.2-0.3% in drinking water
- Prepare fresh water
solutions daily.
